Join us in honoring Dana Cowin and Lauren Halsey!
Project EATS is thrilled to announce the second honoree for this year's annual gala, Dana Cowin—the legendary food writer, author, and longtime editor-in-chief of Food & Wine magazine. Through her work on The Progressive Hedonist podcast and a career devoted to championing both culinary innovation and food accessibility, Dana continues to bring communities together through the power of food storytelling. We’re equally honored to celebrate the contemporary LA-based artist, Lauren Halsey. Lauren creates immersive installations that bridge sculpture and architecture, and graphically maximalist collages that blend real and imagined geographies. Both celebrating Black cultural expressions and archiving them, Halsey’s work offers a form of creative resistance to the forces of gentrification.
Project EATS was founded in 2009 by artist Linda Goode Bryant. Project EATS creates living installations by transforming vacant lots and rooftops into NYC neighborhood-based farms supporting farm stands, prepared food, and community programs to catalyze creativity and cultivate greater food sovereignty across New York City. Communities deserve to grow their own food right where they live–Art that Feeds!
